Born outside of Edmonton, Alberta, Stephen moved to Vancouver to complete an undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia, then in 2009 he entered the law program at Dalhousie University obtaining his Juris Doctor degree in 2012. In 2013, after working as a summer student and articling student at Somers & Company, the Law Society of British Columbia called Stephen to the bar. Since then, he has practiced in the areas of child protection, family law, conveyancing, and insurance defence. However, since 2016 his primary area of focus is insurance defence.

When he’s not at work, Stephen is busy spending time with his spouse and two children, playing hockey, fishing, reading, or travelling. He also enjoys listening to podcasts on a wide range of topics such as space and science, behavioural economics, and politics.
